Masked singer renewed for season 5

To anyone’s surprise, Fox has renewed The Masked Singer for a fifth season, which will air in 2021.

The announcement comes just hours before the Season 4 semi-finals, which will air at 8/7c tonight. In this two-hour episode, the “Super Six” battle for three places in the finals will be broadcast on Wednesday December 16 and will see Craig Robinson (host of the upcoming spin-off The Masked Dancer, premiering on Sunday December 27) as a guest be a panelist.

“I’m very excited to announce a new season of The Masked Singer,” said Rob Wade, president of alternative entertainment and specials for Fox Entertainment, in a statement. “This show brings joy to so many families across the country, especially in these troubled times, and we can’t wait to see more celebrities in crazy costumes for an hour of pure fun each week.”

Past Masked Singer winners include rapper T-Pain, Wayne Brady, host of Let’s Make a Deal, and Kandi Burruss of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Season 4 featured rapper Busta Rhymes, Oscar nominee Mickey Rourke, Beverly Hills, Brian Austin Green (90210), NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez, talk show host Wendy Williams, Bob Saget from Full House, and country singer Clint Black with Knots Landing exposes alum Lisa Hartman Black, spinal surgeon who went viral singing feel to Dr. Elvis Francois, basketball player Lonzo Ball and singer / songwriter Paul Anka.
