Jim Carrey’s Joe Biden is visited by the ghost of Kate McKinnon’s Hillary Clinton on the SNL Chilly Open
How did you celebrate Halloween? Jim Carrey’s Joe Biden started his message with a message to the American people at the Saturday Night Live Cold Open – this, of course, was the last episode of the show before the November 3rd election – reading a gruesome story of possible election results. Of course, it wasn’t long before someone who was exactly in his position visited him.
“It’s a scary time full of demons and darkness,” he said at the beginning of his message. “It’s also Halloween. For some Trump voters, it’s the only day they wear a mask.” He quickly started talking about the elections, adding, “They say I’m eight points ahead of the polls. There can only be one wrong poll number on a blue moon,” says Carreys Biden. At this point he looks out the window to see a blue moon. “That’s a little unsettling.”
Then he took out a copy of Edgar Allen Poe’s The Raven and read a modified version of the classic poem. “It was a bleak midnight when Trump retweeted QAnon theories and searched his Adderall drawer,” joked Carreys Biden. “I was just writing my acceptance speech when something stopped me with a screeching. There was a knock on my chamber door.”
At this point, Kate McKinnon’s Hillary Clinton stepped in to warn Carrey’s Biden why he should be careful in the election.
“Raven, stop being such a train, we have this one in our pockets,” said Carreys Biden. “That’s what every expert says from bank to bank.”
“Not Michael Moore,” McKinnon’s Clinton replied. “He said the polls would be under counting voters. But even if you win Tuesday, the election could still be stolen.”
“Come on,” said Carreys Biden. “Nobody will dare. I will be sworn in fairly and honestly. All votes will be considered.”
“Just like Al Gore,” added Clinton of McKinnon.
FiveThirtyEights Nate Silver (Mikey Day) also appeared and went through the chances of Trump’s re-election before finding that “our country is haunted”. Ice Cube (Kenan Thompson) and Lil Wayne (Chris Redd) also joined Carrey’s Biden to explain why they voted for Trump: “Taxes”.
Next up was Mitch McConnell of Beck Bennett with strange purple hands. Bennetts McConnell said to Carrey’s Biden, “Don’t tell anyone, but I’ll draw for you. You’re doing great.”
The cold Open ended with Maya Rudolph’s Kamala Harris joining Carrey’s Biden for the final farewell. “Use your vote and use your vote,” Rudolphs Harris told voters.
“This summer time we’re gaining an hour and losing a president,” concluded Carreys Biden.
