Alex Trebeks final hazard! Episodes left producers, crew ‘In Tears’
Danger! Fans have a little more time to prepare for the end of an era. As previously reported, the last five episodes of legendary presenter Alex Trebek, which were originally scheduled to begin on Monday, December 21, will now begin Monday 4th January with its final episode airing Friday 8th January.
Leading up to this fateful week, the game show will air reruns for two weeks celebrating Trebek’s adventurous spirit (the first will air on December 21st).
Trebek, who died on November 8th after a nearly two-year battle with pancreatic cancer, shot his last danger! Follow in late October. At the time: “We didn’t know it would be his last [episode]”Showrunner Mike Richards previously told CNN.” He was in pain and we knew it. He [recently] had an operation and I couldn’t believe he was already back from the operation. “
Richards also revealed that at the beginning of the first of Trebek’s last five episodes, the host gave a heartfelt speech to viewers in which he “talked about togetherness, the importance of family … It will get even more resonance now. It was so nice that we were all emotional; we were all in tears. And then we started clapping and [the noise] almost distracted him because he said, “OK, now let’s play Jeopardy!” It was one of those days when he was at the top of his game even though he was obviously very sick. “
Jeopardy is at the end of November! announced that GOAT candidate Ken Jennings will be the first in a series of interim hosts to follow Trebek. Jennings will debut on Monday January 11th. A permanent host will be announced at a later date.
